Wonderful process. I finished my part of Lori’s Starter Collage. I pondered how some women never feel mighty due to systemic barriers and included this conflict with another woman (Goya) looking out from a confinement. That said I celebrated my sense of wonder adding a picture of the owl that landed on my arm at a raptor center!

I’m excited to be sharing my starter for Postal Collage Project #15 with the other collaborators in Group 94. This piece is a meditation on wonder, wilderness, and the journeys we take—both inner and outer. At the center, a lion holds space as a symbol of presence and strength, surrounded by landscapes and creatures from different realms: snowy mountains with caribou, an ocean fish far from its waters, and a framed sunrise peeking into the scene.
I created this collage with openness in mind—leaving areas unglued and spacious to encourage play with layering and transformation. The text fragments—“Understanding and a Sense of Wonder” and “Because the mighty are wild…on a trip of a lifetime”—hint at themes of awe, discovery, and connection with the natural world.
I look forward to seeing how my co-collaborators carry this collage forward, adding their own voices and imagery to this layered journey.
