I put my collage in the mail to headquarters today! I’m so thrilled about how it turned out and thank all of the contributors for making such thoughtful additions!
For my final contributions, I did the following:
1) I gently peeled back the bottom squares, cut them into triangles along the seems, and glued them back to make the piece more flexible.
2) I cut the numbers 1-8 out of an old calendar I had and added them to the number panels in an radiating pattern, building off of Kim’s stickers.
3) I added response words to the inner triangular panels using letters cut out of magazines.

I realized today that I got confused about the order of my collages! I sent along Michelle’s, which isn’t due until January and still had Collageral Damages, due to Kim this month. Thankfully, I had done enough work on the latter and got it in the mail today. My apologies for the mix-up!
I added quite a bit to Collageral Damage’s collage. The girl now has a flower crown and a friend to match (I thought the way the images echoed each other was interesting). I gave our new gal a frame and added a contrasting background to that. I also tucked everything into a pretty floral card, which the next person can choose to use or lose.

I sent along Michelle’s two-sided wonder to Kim today! My additions to the front were fairly minimal: a cartoon caterpillar in one corner and some smiling lips. On the back, I added a beautiful tape measure and a half-open can of fish, both which seemed to compliment the shapes and colors.
I currently have Collageral Damage’s photo and am working on additions with the goal of getting it out before the next delivery date.

My initial collage 41D went to Michelle at the end of September, while Caitlin’s amazing initial collage 41B arrived mid-September. After admiring it for most likely too long, Caitlin’s collage with my addition went to Michelle in the first week of November. Yesterday, I received Wendy’s collage 41A and by the end of the day, I contributed a bit and found a unique element when a corner lifted. So much admiration for everyone’s collaging (?!). Will send Wendy’s to Michelle most likely sometime this week, waaay ahead of schedule!

My starter was sent to Collageral Damage on 9/17/25. It’s double-sided, one side being more abstract, the other with space to write the dates/collaborators. Excited to see where this piece goes in its full circle!

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has gone on strike following Thursday’s government announcement of sweeping service cutbacks. Canada Post’s operations will shut down for the duration of the strike; mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered. Canada Post promises, “All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible once operations resume.“
Last year, there was a Canada Post strike between November 15 and December 17. It was a cause for concern, but I think the affected groups were able to wait it out and complete the project without lasting impact.

Kept the starter simple – an original vintage portrait card, over 100 years old, adorned with a „Kisses“-strip from a Hershey‘s Kiss.

I was inspired by my 7 year old son to create a collage that also functions as a paper fortune teller! I like that you can pack it flat and that it folds into a three dimensional object. It also felt like an interesting construction challenge.
I decided to use cereal box cardboard as my material, but I also realized that to get it the size I wanted, I would need to assemble it from multiple pieces. It is basically a series of squares each folded in half at the diagonal. I think taped it all together with book binders tape on the bottom side. I will likely reinforce with more tape after the collage is completed.
A classic paper fortune teller has four outer “petals,” each a different color. I wanted to play around with combining different patterns and initially tried weaving strips of magazine together but didn’t like the effect. I ended up taking a quilters approach, cutting pictures out in the dominate colors I wanted and then rearranging them like a puzzle. I love how it turned out!
