When I woke up this morning and started to plan my day, my first thought went to my collage project. Instantly water and birds came to mind. In the UK we have had a very unusual hot summer this year. Normally this would mean lots of trips to the beach in our converted camper van. Unfortunately we lost a close family member and most of my time has been spent caring for our family. I wanted to represent some of the seaside holidays we have shared with our family, travelling to St Ives in Cornwall, in my work. I am hoping to see essences of beach huts, coastal birds and fish in the end piece from our wonderful group.
My collage includes cliffs, sun, sand, sunsets and fields… I enjoy making my own papers and have used most of them here.

I decided to use some of the work that I have stalled on. The base of the image is from a 1897 Roberts Encyclopedia, along with some painted and collaged encyclopedia texts. The arrangements have no relationships to each other aside from composition, but I think it opens up the space to what others want to contribute. I added 2 sets of flowers to the beginning one, and will be sending it on to Jessica shortly.
Susan dove in super fast, and I got it before I even had time to start mine! In any case, she sent a lovely organic + text composition that I totally jived off of. I had some similar themed collage doodles that I trimmed out, and after moving around the options (photos included) I finally settled on where I wanted to add things. I will be sending both sets of collages to Jessica so I don’t accidentally forget what I need to do.
