Whew, I managed to finished what I started, my first collaborative collage! After working on other collages with my Group, I think I felt more free to express myself now. I expanded the original to express more of where I am now. Call it: Rage, Rage at the Weapons of War.

I received Tracie Defreitas’s collage from Ruya in early December. Sent it off to Jeff. The collage when I received it needed something to start pulling the very random images, textures and parts into one piece of art. It was bendable when I received it. It sits solidly on one side or another. I like it sideways so all sides are visible. It was a real challenge for me. Had to sit with it for a bit. In the end I mucked it up with acrylic fiber medium, paint and collage elements.

I tried to add some color and amplify what I saw as the swirl confusion and mystery that comes with fractured, difficult communication or information overload.

I received a collage from Teri Bevelaqua at the beginning of November. I loved it and didn’t want to change it too much, so I added a roughly equal sized new section to it and used some of the same colors to unify the two. Sent it to Tracy DeFreitas on Nov. 25.

Received and added to the collage that Matt is the original creator. I’m the third hand on it. Lots of vacant space when I received the collage. Tried to expand the movement and add some items for depth. I did not work with the area that is slit. Looking forward to seeing how this one evolves.

Had a wonderful time relating to Tracy DeFreitas’ original pieces. I tried to work within the given colors and textures, but it also became something of an assemblage – maybe a stage set, or a cityscape, or just a portable mystery in progress.

When I start a collage I tend to quickly lay on a base layer trying to create some depth and motion at the start.
Lots going on in the country. This terrifies me and was weighing heavy on me while creating this start. I cut it apart and sewed it together again purposefully.
