“Hello everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself before we get started on this year’s Postal Collage Project. This is my second year participating, and I’m really looking forward to creating and sharing with all of you.
I’m a mixed-media abstract artist who especially enjoys collage, hand-painted papers, acrylics, mark-making, and experimenting with texture and found materials. I usually create my collages with my own handmade papers rather than magazine pages or other printed materials, so I find this project especially challenging—and exciting. I love seeing the unexpected direction a piece can take when another artist adds their own voice, which is one of the things that makes postal collage so much fun for me.

I’m excited to see how our five pieces evolve as they travel from one artist to another and to discover what each of us brings to them.
Before we begin, I thought it might be nice to check in with one another. Is there anything you’d like the group to know before we start—about your artwork, materials you especially enjoy working with, things you prefer not to use, mailing concerns, travel dates, or anything else that might be helpful?
As our pieces travel, I also encourage everyone to share their journey in the public gallery, especially the dates each artwork is sent and received. These updates will help us follow the progress of the collages and celebrate each stage of their creative adventure.
