This is Deepika’s collage! It arrived yesterday and I’ve already contributed to it with a butterfly, a violet bush and an old city tower.
I think it’s very coherent and colourful, I like it a lot.
I’ll send it first thing on Monday morning.

We added the hare in flight, and used several of the loose, printed fragments to build up the landscape. This is Deepika’s original, running late, on its way to Grazia.
Also, we have just received Gazia’s original and will turn it around asap.

At first, Askushs collage seemed a little strange to me. I had to empathize with it a little first and then tried to approach it intuitively. The abundance of red jumped out at me, and I just had to incorporate it into the lower part of the collage. Since it would have been far too difficult to create an even red background, I opted for lots of small mosaic-like pieces. In the end, I really enjoyed working on this picture. P.S. It’s the same (Ferrari) red as on my own starter and the letters on top collage.
I’m excited to see how it continues.

Here’s what I added to Askush’s starter — I finished up the circle and added a flower to it. The fragile tape made me think of cuts and stitches, so I thought I would use thread and stitch on the collage. The paper was a bit too thick for needles so I added paper stitches! It was fun to do but I’m not too happy about how the background looks. Perhaps if I had collaged under it before I stitched, I would like it more.
Askush’s starter is on it’s way to Switzerland — can’t wait to see what Michael does with it next!

I enlarged the collage of Deepika with two collage parts. A house and three shepherds with a herd of goats. I had a lot of fun.

After a long journey, Grazia’s starter has finally made its way to India! We thought it was lost, but so happy it arrived safely. Grazia, thank you for all the wonderful photos and materials you included. Can’t wait to begin cutting! I’ll share another update here once it’s on its way to the next stop.

Olivier’s Art Trading-Card Swap prompt—We didn’t follow the instructions to a T, but close enough. We made our own set of nine ATCs according to Olivier’s specs. They’re all ‘two-bit’ collages, something we read about in Kolaj Magazine a couple of years ago. We placed our nine, two-bit ATCs in the plastic pockets, back to back with Olivier’s cards. The 18 ATCs are on their way to Italy.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has gone on strike following Thursday’s government announcement of sweeping service cutbacks. Canada Post’s operations will shut down for the duration of the strike; mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered. Canada Post promises, “All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible once operations resume.“
Last year, there was a Canada Post strike between November 15 and December 17. It was a cause for concern, but I think the affected groups were able to wait it out and complete the project without lasting impact.

I worked on a landscape-style scene and also cut out some extra pieces — the sun and some green foliage. I didn’t glue those down but added them in the envelope so Michael can play around and decide if and how he wants to use them.
