The image of the collage on concrete is what it looked like after passing through the hands of my collaborators. When I sent my starter I asked my group members not to affix it to a substrate and I am so relieved that they respected my request! Sometimes starting directly on a substrate “sets” the collage too soon. I wanted the option of seeing both sides of the collage before committing it to a final configuration.
To complete it, I decided to fold it in on itself, hopefully preserving a visual record of everyone’s contribution. I loved what they added and how folding some of the pieces brought more color into the collage!
I enjoyed working with this group and how each collage that passed through was so different!

Finalized my collage with a few tweaks to the sword and added some more orange. Sent it off to Marty on January 15. This has been such a wonderful experience for a first timer. Can’t wait to do it again!

Did round 4 on Lisa’s starter and round 5 on Karen’s at the same time. I received both collages a month ago on November 6 and forgot to update status. I don’t usually work with gel medium as an adhesive but found I had to for Lisa’s collage, so decided to do the same on Karen’s.
I’ve enjoyed that the collages I have received have been so different, prompting me to respond to them in unique ways.

Sent Tink’s collage back to her after adding lacy handmade paper behind the open “window” and watch gears on the back.
Also sent Andrea’s to Tink after adding bird, oil pastel pencil spirals and translucent deli paper with black “brackets”.

Karen L Quattlander, October 28, 2025
Sent Andrea’s starter on to Lisa. Interesting to work on something with irregular borders!

Sending Terri Binder’s on to Lisa after adding some paint, words, and graphic elements.

Sending Tink’s super hero collage on to Lisa after adding some circles, a spiral, and a supplication.

Image of Terri’s starter as received after Tink’s contribution and image after my addition. Will be mailed to Karen this week!

Received Tink’s starter which is double-sided. Decided to approach it by adding a window-as-a-book element. Images are all after my addition. Sending it on the way to Karen this week.

My starter collage – sent on to Lisa.

Andrea Lewicki, September 18, 2025
Sending my starter off to Karen today! I know that a collage can change dramatically as it makes the circuit so I quickly chose 2 pieces from a folder of interesting fragments that I’ve been accumulating for a while and I added the outline of a sticker. That’s it. Didn’t even apply the starter to a substrate which is something I’ve done in prior years.

I mailed my collage to Tink today. USPS says it’s expected to deliver it on Monday 9/15.
